Free Yourself From Harmful Habits

WHITNEY TICE, M.A.

Discover a stronger self

I provide depth therapy to address disordered eating, working, and self-image

You keep trying, but it’s still not enough. You’re still stuck in the same destructive patterns, relentlessly striving for perfection and trying to quiet the voice pointing out your flaws. You wake up each day feeling anxious about proving yourself or ashamed about failing to meet some standard the day prior. You are weary and long for rest but changing or slowing down seems terrifying. You yearn to be fully known and accepted without having to earn your worth, but you’re unsure if that’s even possible. You feel convinced that you are what you do, what you look like, or what others think of you.

I provide a safe space for weary people to take off the mask and rest from image management. This is often the starting point for replacing destructive patterns with receiving and giving love. Whether it’s a pattern of disordered eating, codependency, constant worry or comparison, workaholism, or something else, we can feel protected by these habits. We may even attach our sense of identity to them. Living in self-reliance and trying to stay in control feels safe, but it blocks us from the relational intimacy we need to thrive. I know from experience.

The truth is, we cannot change these ruthless habits alone. We’ve learned many of these destructive habits in response to painful relational experiences. If we want to change, we are going to need new relational experiences in which our weaknesses are known and met with grace. That’s what I’m here for.

Whether you feel one-hundred percent ready to start taking steps towards a different way of living, or you feel ambivalent about it, I’m ready to listen. Taking a step to open up and talk with someone typically feels daunting. Let’s start small with one phone call. You can decide after that whether you want to talk again.
