Somatic Therapy for Trauma and Anxiety

Emotional pain shows up in our bodies. Somatic therapy helps you heal
I provide somatic therapy to help adults experience freedom and peace from bodily and emotional pain.
If you are here, you’re searching for a way out of pain. Emotional hurt can stem from past trauma and can affect the way you experience life and your own body. Perhaps you’ve become overcome with anxiety, rumination, or sleep disturbances. Perhaps your relationships feel imbalanced or fraught with tension. Perhaps a difficult experience has impacted your health and you suffer from chronic pain or persistent illnesses. You want to feel free, less burdened by fear or worry. You are ready to embark on your healing journey.
Therapy is the place to do this work. Together, we can gently uncover the roots of your unease, identify triggers, and establish productive coping mechanisms. Along the way, we can build your self-worth and agency to tap into your innate vitality and natural wellbeing. These are ways to help you wake up feeling refreshed, move through your day with energy, and talk with your loved ones with ease.
My intention when working in therapy is to provide exemplary empathic attunement and real, felt, relational alignment. I naturally acknowledge and return to feelings, memories, and dreams as messages worthy of attention. I bring my passion for somatic healing techniques to my practice to support talk-therapy. Somatic psychotherapy activates the body in the here and now to understand and relieve pain. Therapy with me is guided by the connection between mind, body, and spirit as a path towards becoming closer to who you truly are.
My years teaching dance have shaped my awareness for how bodily movement expresses and processes painful emotion. I can help you find relief.
Moving out of pain occurs with tender curiosity and relational care. Please reach out, let’s work together to help you move out of pain and into strength.

When we’re in pain, we often receive messages that we need to suppress, hold it in, ignore it. We’re often afraid that big feelings will overwhelm us. However the truth is that suppressing our feelings is what causes us distress. When we tune into our body’s responses and rhythms through somatic therapy it’s proven to significantly improve healing and wellbeing and release tension in our bodies. Somatic therapy is a way to reconnect with the natural strength of our bodies so we can experience greater emotional connection and wisdom.
Arianne explains how somatic therapy can help people through bodily expressions of anxiety: panic attacks, migraines, and IBS. Connor McClenahan and Arianne MacBean explore what it means to move toward the symptoms and how doing so promotes healing.
