Somatic therapy is a body-oriented approach designed to address trauma and stress-related disorders by focusing on physical sensations and bodily responses. Unlike traditional talk therapy, which primarily deals with cognitive and emotional aspects, somatic experiencing focuses on the profound link between mind and body, helping clients release repeated physiological energy from past traumas. Somatic therapy tackles issues like PTSD, anxiety, depression, and chronic pain by guiding people to gradually process and integrate traumatic experiences through bodily awareness.
Clients often experience significant improvements such as reduced symptoms, increased resilience, better emotional regulation, and a restored sense of vitality and well-being. Basically, somatic therapy helps you feel better by teaching your body to stop holding on to trauma.
