Counseling for Depression in DTLA

MATTHEW RUSSELL, PSYD

When life feels out of control, we want some kind of shelter from the storm.

I help people with depression feel less weighed down, and more in control of their emotions, so they can feel relief.

When life is out of control we look for any way to feel relief. Usually we try to lessen the pain on our own, but then find ourselves stuck in repetitive habits that leave us not relieved, but addicted and unhappy.

What you need is a way to move through – not around – the pain. That means learning to approach the pain together, and coming out the other side not only with understanding, but with a renewed connection to what’s most important in life.

What kinds of problems do you help with?

I help lawyers, creatives, and other professionals overcome depression and other emotional barriers. I occasionally do psychological testing to help people gain clarity around issues like ADHD, trauma, personality disorders, and learning disabilities.

How much do sessions cost?

My fee is $180/session. I occasionally can accommodate sliding scale appointments. I offer super bills for out-of-network insurance reimbursement. Call our care coordinator with any questions about fee.

What do you like about being a therapist?

Making lasting changes is hard work and when I've done it, I needed some help. From an emotional hurdle, to relationship problems, to self-discovery, it's important to have someone you can count on and its meaningful for me to be that person for others.
